Tesla has made charging much faster for Cybertrucks. But will other electric cars get this faster charging too?

Think about charging your car in half the time. That’s what’s happening for Cybertruck owners now that Tesla has made charging much faster at its newest Supercharger stations.

This means less waiting and more driving. But how much faster is it? And what about other electric cars?

Tesla has made charging their trucks much faster at all of its newest Supercharger stations (called V4).

Just last month, Tesla started testing faster charging on some of these stations, and now it’s available everywhere.

Cybertrucks can now charge at a speed of 325 kilowatts (kW) other Tesla cars, which max out at 250 kW. The Cybertruck can handle this faster charging because of its special design.

And even faster charging is coming! Tesla is working on even newer Superchargers that will let Cybertrucks charge at up to 500 kW.

Other electric cars, like some Hyundai and Kia models, also have the technology for faster charging. It’s not clear yet if they will be able to use these faster Supercharger speeds right away.

Tesla has been adding these new V4 Superchargers throughout the year. They’re also making other improvements, like longer cables so other types of electric cars can use them more easily, and better information about which charging stations are available.

Tesla says they’ve been able to build these charging stations quickly and cheaply, partly because they make parts for them in a factory in New York. They’ve also hinted that these savings could mean lower charging costs for everyone.
