Tesla Cybertruck Handles Crash Like a Tank, Owner Shares Photos and What His Wife Said After

In a world where car accidents usually lead to stress, damage, and frustration, one Tesla Cybertruck owner from Austin, Texas, has a very different story to tell.

After being rear-ended on the highway, not only did his Cybertruck come out mostly unharmed—but the incident left his wife so impressed that she now wants one of her own.

Here’s what happened…

The Cybertruck owner was driving down a Texas highway with his wife when a car in front of them suddenly swerved out of the lane. To his surprise, several vehicles were completely stopped just ahead. That’s when Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) software jumped into action.

“FSD started braking hard,” the owner explained. “I quickly took over and hit the brakes myself. We went from 55 mph to zero in about 50 feet.”

That’s fast—and that’s exactly what saved them from a serious pile-up.

Unfortunately, the Toyota behind them wasn’t so lucky.

A Close Call for the Toyota Driver

The Toyota driver noticed the stopped traffic too late. In a desperate attempt to avoid crashing, they swerved to the right—but clipped the back corner of the Cybertruck anyway.

You’d expect some panic, maybe even injuries. But here’s the twist: the Cybertruck’s owner says he and his wife didn’t even feel the impact.

“We hardly noticed we got hit,” he wrote in a Facebook group for Cybertruck owners.

The Aftermath: One Bent Panel vs. a Total Front-End Wreck

Photos shared in the group tell the story. The Toyota’s front end? Smashed—bumper, hood, lights, and fender, all crumpled. The Cybertruck? Just a small bend in its tough stainless steel tailgate.

And it gets better.

“I’m pretty sure I could just bend it back,” the owner joked. “It’s on his insurance anyway.”

He even added, “Hopefully, the accident didn’t break the seal—I still want to float this thing someday. Lol.”

Tesla’s Safety Tech Impresses More Than Just the Driver

What truly stands out is what his wife said after the crash.

“She wants a Cybertruck now,” the owner said. “She saw how safe it was and how calm we both felt during and after the accident.”

And who could blame her?

What About the Insurance Claim?

Other Cybertruck owners were quick to jump into the comments. Some warned that the insurance company might try to blame him for braking too hard.

But the owner was ready for that argument.

“I stopped with 24 inches to spare between me and the car in front of me,” he replied. “If the Cybertruck didn’t have such great brakes, it would have been a much worse accident.”

Still Drivable, Still Strong

Even with a bent panel, the Cybertruck is fully functional. “It’s a first-gen,” the owner noted. “Still totally drivable—so no rush on repairs.”

Final Thoughts

While no one wants to be in an accident, this Cybertruck owner walked away with more than just a cool story—he gained more respect for Tesla’s engineering, and his wife became a future Cybertruck customer.

Would you consider getting a Cybertruck after seeing how it handled this accident? Let us know in the comments.
