Tesla’s Cybertruck prices have dropped, and the company is now offering generous incentives to attract new buyers.
But what does that mean for the early adopters who paid a premium for their Foundation Series Cybertrucks?
Buyers like Frank Jimenez think they got “cooked” after seeing the price cuts and incentives. He took to Facebook to express his frustration, writing:
“Let’s be honest. Foundation Buyers got cooked. Prices have decreased like crazy, with an insane amount of incentives now. I feel played.”
So, do all early Cybertruck buyers feel the same way? Or are they still happy with their purchase despite the price drops?
Cybertruck Leases Drop and Incentives Pile Up
According to a report from Autoweek, Tesla has significantly lowered lease prices for the Cybertruck:
New Lease Pricing:
- $749/month for 36 months (previously $899/month)
- Requires a $7,500 down payment plus other fees
Previous Lease Pricing (November 2024):
- Cybertruck AWD: $1,068/month
- Cyberbeast: $1,284/month (higher mileage options pushed it to $1,338/month)
Tesla’s goal? Move the remaining high-priced inventory before introducing cheaper models.
Newsweek reports:
“We haven’t seen the bottom of this lease pricing well, and waiting a few more months could yield even greater savings for prospective Cybertruck lessees.”
In other words, prices may continue to drop—which could make early buyers feel even more frustrated.
Tesla’s New Perks for Cybertruck Buyers
To keep Foundation Series trucks selling, Tesla has introduced several incentives:
- Free Wraps ($6,000 Value) – Tesla now offers Foundation Series Cybertruck buyers a free wrap installation from XPEL. This deal expires March 31, 2025, with vouchers redeemable until June 30, 2025.
- Free Supercharging & Full Self-Driving (FSD) – Tesla recently added free Supercharging and FSD access for Cybertruck buyers, making the deal even sweeter for new customers.
Newsweek reports:
“Tesla is pressing quite a few, if not all, of the demand-generation buttons it has in front of it.”
What Are Early Cybertruck Buyers Saying?
Do all Foundation Series buyers feel like Frank? Surprisingly, most early adopters are still happy with their decision.
Happy Cybertruck Owners:
Jason Beckham:
“I fully expected it. And that’s the price we pay. I also got hosed on my 2015 Model S 85D. And I’m completely fine with it. The cost of being an early adopter.”
Todd Lefor:
“I’m good with my decision. It was clear that I was paying a 20k premium for the ‘foundation package’ and knew the price would drop. It’s all good to me.”
James Hubbard:
“I paid what I paid. Back when it was announced, I put $20k into Tesla stock. That has increased to close to 3 Cybertrucks. So, in theory, I paid zero for my truck.”
John Evans:
“I wanted to be first. My Foundation was not an investment—it was the opportunity to be first. I’ve had my truck since April. It’s been all over the country. 28,000 miles. I love it. I would not change a thing.”
Disappointed Buyers:
Not every early buyer is happy. Some feel misled about incentives and perks they didn’t receive.
Ians Opinions:
“I’m a little miffed. Being in Alaska, our deliveries for the Beast were really delayed. I got mine in November. Then they started the incentives a month later. I also never got the $4k install incentive, and they gave me $1,100 credit for Supercharging in a state with only two Superchargers.”
Darnell White:
“I’m a Foundation Series owner and feel like I was played. People are now getting free lifetime charging; leasing is an option, and some configurations are tax-credit eligible. It’s crazy. I still haven’t received my light bar, credits, or Power Share.”
Will Cybertruck Prices Drop Even Further?
Tesla still hasn’t released the most affordable Cybertruck variant, and experts believe prices could continue to fall.
Newsweek reports:
“Tesla hasn’t pressed the button on the single-motor Cybertruck yet. At one point, it was promised to start at $39,900, but we aren’t holding our breath for that price.”
Right now, the cheapest Cybertruck is still around double that price—meaning there’s still room for more price cuts and equipment downgrades.
Do Early Cybertruck Buyers Regret Their Decision?
Despite price drops and new incentives, most early Cybertruck buyers remain satisfied with their purchase.
- Many expected the price to drop over time and were willing to pay a premium to be first in line.
- Some are excited that lower prices mean more people can enjoy the Cybertruck experience.
- A smaller group of buyers feel frustrated about missing out on free charging, FSD, and wraps.
At the end of the day, being an early adopter comes with a price—but for most Cybertruck owners, it was a price worth paying.
